Unity Candles

The lighting of the unity candle offers a reflective moment during the wedding ceremony and is often accompanied by music.  Many couples will have their mothers light the taper candles first which symbolizes the joining of both families.  The couple will then use the taper candles to light their unity candle to symbolizes the union of two individuals becoming one in commitment.

If you or your fiancé have children, consider a family unity candle.  Each child, along with the bride and groom will use a taper candle to light the unity candle.  This a memorable way to include the children in the ceremony and for them to feel special.  Afterall, this is a life changing event for them too!
