Unity Candle
|
|
The unity candle symbolizes the newly
joined couple plus the joining of their two families. The lighting
of the unity candle offers a reflective moment during the wedding
ceremony and many couples will relight it on their wedding
anniversary. |
|
At the beginning of the wedding ceremony,
the bride's parents light a candle on their side of the altar and
the groom's parents light one on their side. After the couple
exchanges their vows, the bride and groom will then carry their
family's candle to the center where they both light the unity
candle
that has been placed there. |

Unity Candle Tips
|
Used at the wedding ceremony to symbolize the
uniting of two individuals or families, the bride and groom use
tapers to light the pillar candle forming one flame. Or, the mothers
can light the pillar candle at the beginning of the ceremony and
then the bride and groom use that flame to light the union candle.
This tradition has become an integral part of today’s wedding
service for many couples. |

When selecting a
unity candle
for your wedding ceremony, look for: |
Unity Candles that are smokeless
and/or dripless. Many churches will not allow you to use a
candle unless it is smokeless and dripless.
Candles with
embellishments such as Swarovski® crystals, tulle and twine with a
cluster of seashells or a sumptuous bow of sheer satin ribbon that
is accented with beautifully sculpted rose or, if you prefer,
candles with just a plain bow.
Don't
forget to purchase the tapers to go with the candle. The
tapers my be used by the bride and groom or mothers of the bride
and groom, during the unity candle lighting ceremony.

However you choose to incorporate candles into your
services, you can’t go wrong with the warm glow, symbolism and
elegant touch candles provide. |
